Foley announces run for 38th District General Assembly seat

Waterford — Retired cardiologist Dr. John Foley, a Republican, has announced his candidacy for state representative from the 38th District, which includes Waterford and Montville.
Incumbent Democrat Nick Gauthier is seeking reelection.
A Waterford resident, Foley in his announcement this week said he recently retired from a job as associate vice president of medical affairs at Hartford HealthCare Medical Group. He also used to be a clinical instructor at the Yale School of Medicine.
He said his local community involvement includes serving as president of the New London County Medical Association, and as a member of the Representative Town Meeting. He was also involved with the Waterford Republican Town Committee.
His said his campaign will focus on affordability, strengthening health care access, supporting public safety and promoting responsible, transparent government.
“I’m running to be a strong voice for our community and to deliver practical solutions that make a real difference," Foley said.
